Why did we want Big Foot to exist ? What part of the brain insists on believing in myth ? How far will belief take us ? How do we recognize myth from reality ? How do we not recognize reality from myth ? What do a fallen astronaut, a mongrel gorilla, and ET have in common ? What do they have in common with the common human ? What do they want from us ? Are they watching us ? Who is watching whom ?

Magdy’s creatures and half-breeds run amok and re-appear throughout his highly colored works on paper and immersive sculptural installations. In many ways they are counterfeit stand-ins for dangerous alter-egos, proxy heroes and fallen heroes and the failed dreams of progress and civility.
