Please join us for our latest show featuring the work of five Kansas City artists, Marcus Cain, Michael Converse, Colin Leipelt, Kacy Maddux, and James Woodfill. We will also have an informal artist talk at 6:30 with four of the artists and the curators. The KC collective, Carnal Torpor will be performing at the reception which will last till about 10pm. Everything in Heaven Is TV Preview Screening Saturday

Saturday, October 4th, 8pm-10pm
EIHITV is a new public access series created in part by local artist collective The Totally Wreck Production Institute! The first episode features a live studio performance by dance diva Tummy Toast, animation by art collective Paper Rad, and more. Preview will include music by DJ Jaunty, refreshments, and hot raffle prizes!
EIHITV will air Sundays at 7pm on Channel 16, from October through January.

Okay Mountain Book Release!

To coincide with E.A.S.T. (see above) we are releasing Volume 1 of our collaborative drawings from the past year. Guest curators Travis Millard and Mel Kadel chose 100 drawings out of hundreds, and we are releasing them in book form. Each book comes with a one-of-a-kind limited dust jacket featuring an original drawing. Plus, we will have a new assortment of piping hot drawings, fresh out of the oven.

The Austin Critics Table Awards were held Monday, June 4th at the Cap City Comedy Club. Congratulations to Elaine Bradford who picked up top honors for Individual Work of Art for her sculpture in our exhibition, Outside In. Also, we recieved the top award for galleries in Austin; Best Gallery/ Body of Work. Thanks to everyone who has supported our endeavors over the past year -- stay tuned, there is much more to come!

No American Talent

We are kicking off 2007 with a three-part series titled No American Talent: International Exhibitions at Okay Mountain. It will all start off with Benito Laren from Argentina on Jan 12th, followed by Dark Matter: New Work From Japan, featuring six Tokyo-based artists opening Jan 27th, and in April, Basim Magdy from Cairo Egypt. Oh and the Texas Biennial is in the middle of it all.... get ready for a hot winter on the Mountain.

We are participating in the East Austin Studio Tour this year and will have an opening for our staff show Saturday night from 7-10. We will also be open 10am - 5pm both Saturday and Sunday. Ponieheart will play music at our gallery on Sunday evening around 7 or so. This is a free show, so come check it out. This past Friday night, Okay Mountain faced off with MASS Gallery in an iron chef style art battle. There were three categories, 2D, 3D, and video. Nathan Green, Ryan Lauderdale, and Erick Michaud represented the Mountain and won in all three of their categories. Check out images here.

Japanther/This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb this Friday

We are hosting four bands this Friday at the Blue Theater. Delay, This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb and Japanther will be playing starting at 7:30pm. We can only allow so many people in due to firecode, so make sure you get there early. Tickets are available at the door only and are 5 dollars. This is an all ages show. The Blue Theater is located at 916 Springdale Rd, just North of the train tracks on Springdale before Airport. It is in the same complex as Goodwill and Blue Genie.
